Nestled amongst the historic Jenny Grist Mill you will find Gillis Family Tavern, a newly renovated and reopened premium sports restaurant that caters to families seeking an exceptional dining experience. Here we celebrate the rich history of the town and the surrounding area.
The Jenny Grist Mill, dating back to the 1800s, was an important part of Plymouth’s early economy, as it was used to grind corn and wheat into flour. The mill was built in the mid-18th century by Thomas Jenny, a farmer and miller who had immigrated to the colonies from England. The mill was in operation for many years, providing flour for the local community and beyond.
In the early 1900s, the building was converted into a tavern, which has been serving locals and visitors ever since. The Gillis family took over the tavern in 2022, and we have been proud to continue the tradition of providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all who visit.
At Gillis Family Tavern, we are passionate about using local ingredients and incorporating traditional New England flavors into our menu. Our chefs are skilled in creating delicious dishes that showcase the best of the region, and we are committed to providing a dining experience that is both satisfying and memorable.
We invite you to come visit us and experience the history and charm of Plymouth at Gillis Family Tavern. With comfortable seating and multiple large screens displaying the latest sports games, it is the perfect destination for lunch, dinner, or drinks. After your meal, you can sit back and relax with a cocktail as you enjoy the warmth of the fireplace or our lovely outdoor deck, looking out to views of the historic mill. we are excited to welcome you into our home and share our love of this special place.
